This is my sermon from the Midnight Eucharist in our Cathedral in Perth
I went off this morning to our small congregation in St Mary’s, Birnam/Dunkeld, where the Rector has recently retired. Except that it wasn’t a small congregation – lots of people and plenty of children. A real lift for them and for me!
Thank you. Ever since July 1991 I have produced my samizdat journal to challenge the easy condemnation of LGBTI people I have met.
As an Amnesty activist I have walked with families through their grimmest experiences of inhumanity when members have been imprisoned and tortured. Few people have the privilege of seeing (Muslim) faith and the universal power of love, loyalty and hope at such close quarters. My Christian faith sustained me and the consequences continue to amaze.
