  1. It is a good thing to look beyond our own generation and to build those things which will be of benefit to them. Education may be useful in building a future and it is wise to make the most of our educational opportunities. But as Church, what do we build for future generations? Whatever it is we are told that there is only one foundation, Jesus Christ (1 Cor 3:11) and, in context, the scandal and foolishness of him crucified. If we move from that foundation, if we think we have been educated to a point where we can ignore that foundation – and the rest of the Scriptures in which it is found – what we build for our children has already begun to crumble.
