Poppy Update

Poppy is getting along just fine – although the colder weather is not altogether to her liking.  She has become a mighty hunter – establishing firstly a ‘take-away’ mouse facility beside the fuschia plantation in the Blogstead garden.  We have to be careful to keep the doors closed when she is out – otherwise she arrives in the midst with live prey.  She has also established a ‘room service’ arrangement – depositing dead mice during the night at the top of the stairs and on her blanket in the family room.  We do not know where they are coming from

  1. My Irish background means that I have an inside track on banishing snakes – unfortunately not transferable to mice

  2. Ian suggests a prayer for banishment of mice … which reminds me of a probably apocryphal story of a church whose belfry (at least) was overrun (flowing?) with bats.

After extermination services failed, the bishop was called, and very shortly after the episcopal visit, they vanished. “How did you do that?”

“simple. Baptised half and confirmed the rest. They left the building and that was the last we ever saw of them”

    would that work with mice?

  3. I think the mice have no more liking for the cold than Poppy, they seek warmth and become easy prey. Do you not have a prayer for their banishment, or at least synodical provision to grant them letters dimissory?

  4. They might be visiting from the diocese of Argyll and the Isles, in response to your mission and ministry strategy.

My live-in mice seem to have disappeared of late.
